| Click Here ---- Reporting from Washington — After languishing for more than a year, a food-safety bill that has enjoyed strong bipartisan support passed the Senate on Tuesday, raising prospects for tougher and more extensive federal inspections and other safeguards. The bill, which President Obama supports, still needs to be reconciled with differing provisions in legislation passed by the House in July 2009. But the Senate action was cheered by advocates as a sign that the long delay could be nearing an end and that the nation's food-safety laws will receive their first major overhaul in decades.----Now, when you look this bill up online, you'll find 18 Amendments to this bill which the public is offered no information on. When this is looked up on GovTrack...you'll see that no information is available. Click Here --- 18 Unseen Amendments As of now, they are stating that small farmers, vegetable stand workers and famers market people will be able to still sell HOWEVER this bill has not been fully approved yet. We also have the provisions of those 18 Amendments there too which raise quite a few questions. One thing to look at is the movie "Food Inc" to get an understanding of how the small farmer will be affected. You have this new "seed inspection" system and if a SINGLE Monsanto seed blows into an organic farm or a local, independent small farm....Monstanto can sue them and shut them down instantly! “If people let government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny.” ---Thomas Jefferson's prophectic quote Keep your eyes on this! | |
